Persimmons Tree bare root
Persimmons Trees, bare root These are American persimmons seedlings.
2 years old seeded September of 2023 average 18-24” total height
3 year old seeded September 2022 Average 24-36” total height
These are bare root and should be planted ASAP! Ideally, soak them in water for an hour, with aloe and or some kelp of you have it, then plant into rich soil. It’s always a good idea to add compost to planting holes, and mulch to surface (avoid volcanoes ) We recommend fertilizing them with any quality organic slow release fertilizer according to the directions on the bottle. “Build a Soil” craft blend 3.0 is an excellent top dressing that acts as a stand alone fertilizer for nearly any plant, and is great for persimmons.
These natives thrive in our local normal soils, they grow 30-60’ tall, and should be planted 25’-40’ apart. You need at least 2 trees for pollination, a male and a female. Since it is unknown if it’s a male or female before they reach their large fruiting size we recommend planting atleast 3, or even 4 to help ensure you end up with atleast a male and a female. These beautiful fruit are among the best tasting and healthiest fruit that can be grown here. Plants require little to no pruning, and can yield hundreds of pounds each season! Great for deer, and wildlife. The actual trees are naturally deer resistant, but once the fruit falls ths deer absolutely love them and come from far and wide for them. They ripen from September to end of November, and can hang on the tree quite a while and drop into winter providing rich nutrients when they’re needed most! These plants like 6 plus hours of sun but can handle as low as 4 hours and can tolerate wet soils if they have to.
Note: minimum of 2 plants are required for pollination
We will make every effort to combine shipping, and we will and refund any difference.
